Married 1) Jack Southwell Russell - 25th Lord de Clifford [1906-1909, his death], 2) Arthur Roy Stock [1913-1915, his death], 3) George Vernon Tate [1922-1955, his death]. All three husbands were military men. Tate was a former Berkshire County cricketer and later chairman of the Tate and Lyle sugar company.
1950 - Thieves stole £20,000 in jewellery and furs from the Tate's London hotel room while they were at dinner.
*Although her father's birth name was Chandler, by the time of the 1891 census the family was using the name 'Carrington'. At the time of her birth, Eva's father was living in London and working as a hall porter, but had previously been an orderly room clerk to Colonel F. Burnaby of the Horse Guards at Dalgan Park in County Galway, Ireland - the seat of the de Cliffords. This connection might have been the means by which Eva met her first husband.
